I am clean and sober and on my first day of recovery and sobriety. Longtime functioning alcoholic and 2 + years of pain med addiction. Looking for a healthy outlet for my feelings. I'm scared to death, but also anxious to start a REAL life. Should of done this long ago, before I lost so much, but here I am..... day one! Headed to 1st AA meeting in many years tonight. Had almost 10 years of sobriety with the help of AA and decided I could drink socially again. I failed miserably! Hope it takes again, my life depends on it.

Meeting was great last night. I am meeting today with one of the men I met last night. Hoping that he will be willing to sponsor me. I want to get started on the steps right away. Need guidance and advice on what I need to do to stay clean and sober, one day at a time.

Congratulations on finding your courage! Being scared, high emotions and feelings of
fear are all normal! This will be one roller coaster with many ups and downs but never doubt your decision is right. You'll get lots of support from us. We ALL know exactly where you're at...and you've already proven you know how this gi works so yes, you do have another recovery in you, good luck rock on!

Congrats on choosing to get sober again. I also was in AA years ago and went back out. You defiently can do it again one day at a time. I did.

This is now day #5 clean and sober. Have been to an AA meeting each day and have not drank or used in between. I have a sponsor with 15 years recovery that has committed to show me how to work the steps the way his sponsor taught him to work the steps. He has had me reading the doctor's opinion from the BB everyday and tomorrow we meet for more guidance and instruction. Thanks to you all for your support. I will update you all as time goes forward.
