Give yourself a dream

Give yourself a good, solid, clear and meaningful reason to do whatever you’re doing. Give yourself a real, authentic dream.

Give yourself a dream that has meaning, and that compels you forward. Keep yourself solidly connected to that dream.

Let your dream flow naturally and honestly from the vision you have for how life can be. Make your dream so big and exciting that you cannot fail to put the best of yourself into it.

Give yourself a dream, and give it to all the world as well. Choose a dream that enables you to lift others higher as you lift yourself higher and do what you truly love.

Let go of the excuses, the complaints, the anger, envy and frustration. Put the miraculous power of your thoughts, words and actions into the good and positive things that truly matter.

At this time of new beginnings, choose to live with more substance and meaning than ever before. Give yourself a dream, and give all of life the unique benefit of the very best you can be.

— Ralph Marston

Raise those expectations

After life has dealt you a setback, it may seem reasonable to lower your expectations. And yet, it is in fact just as reasonable, and much more advisable, to raise those expectations.

What has already happened has indeed set the stage for what is to come. However, your past does not have to control your future, because you can control and direct what you do right now.

If you visualize and expect more disappointment, you’re sure to get it. But you don’t want to do that.

Instead, use this moment to break the pattern. Stop looking down on what has been, and choose to look upward to the best that can be.

You are more experienced, more knowledgeable, and more determined than ever before. So raise your expectations accordingly.

Form your expectations based on the best you know you can be. Feel the power of your most treasured dreams as you enthusiastically bring those dreams to life.

— Ralph Marston

Bring the best to life

Be at peace with what has been. That enables you to focus all of your attention and energy into making the best of what can be.

Let go of the need to prove you’re right. Instead, concentrate your thoughts and efforts on being your best.

Get beyond your worries about what may or may not happen, or what other people might think of you. Invest yourself in the real and present actions you can take to make a positive difference.

Your life is too important to waste even a moment or two on things you can’t do anything about. There is so very much you can do instead, and so very many things you can positively influence.

Put all your efforts into what will bear fruit. Give your time and attention to the things that have meaning and value for you.

Feel love instead of fear, joy in the place of worry, and focus on your possibilities instead of resentments. Visualize life at its best, and bring the best to life.

— Ralph Marston

Create

From the possibilities, you can create. From those things you create, come many more possibilities.

You can take what is, and make it into what has never been before. Starting with just an idea, you can create objects, expressions, and experiences that flow from that idea.

With what you are able to create, you can make a positive and meaningful difference in the world. With what you create, you can bring great fulfillment to your own life and to the lives of those around you.

The amazing ability to create is an ability that has no limit. No matter how much value you’ve already created, there is always more for you to create.

In an endless process of creation, life is always renewing itself. With your life, you can do the same.

With your time, with your thoughts, with your efforts and resources, create. There’s always a way to bring more meaning and richness to life.

— Ralph Marston

The Daily Motivator - The Daily Motivator - The vision inside
Saturday, February 4, 2012
The vision inside

Achievement flows from the inside out. To experience an exceptional life on the outside, you must nurture exceptionally positive values on the inside.

You cannot be angry, resentful, envious or cynical on the inside and expect to achieve anything of value. No matter where you might attempt to direct it, your negativity hurts you more than anyone else.

The great thing is, you can experience an outstanding life if you will constantly and persistently envision an outstanding life. That positive vision will itself drive your actions to ensure its own fulfillment.

There is great and unique beauty living within you. Connect with it, acknowledge it, express it and watch as your actions create corresponding beauty in the world around you.

Achievement begins, continues and culminates with the vision of achievement that lives inside you. Fulfillment flows naturally and unceasingly from the integrity of your inner self.

Keep that inner vision strong, and keep that integrity intact. The whole of life surrounding you is eagerly awaiting the full expression of the beautiful vision that lives inside you.

— Ralph Marston

The Daily Motivator - The Daily Motivator - Stop putting it off
Friday, February 17, 2012
Stop putting it off

If there’s something that must be done, go ahead and get it finished. Get busy, get it done, and feel the freedom of no longer having it hanging over your head.

Sure, it will take some focused, concentrated effort. Yes, it may be annoying and inconvenient. However, those are not reasons to avoid it. Those are great reasons to go ahead and get it behind you.

Instead of filling your day with worry and dread and resentment and guilt, fill it with effective, productive effort. Instead of making excuses and ending up getting nowhere, make some real progress and get the task behind you.

The energy you spend putting it off is one hundred percent wasted energy. The energy you spend getting it done is what will make a real, discernable, positive difference in your world.

So get yourself going and get it done. Now is the time and this is the place from which you can move confidently forward.

— Ralph Marston

The power to do it

You can do it, when you have a good and meaningful reason. You can do it, if you commit to it and act on it and persist until the goal is reached.

You can start with what is, and make it into whatever you would like it to be. You can begin from where you are, and get to where you want to be.

Instead if idly letting the moments pass by, you can make full use of each one. Instead of complaining that you don’t know what to do, you can experiment with different approaches until you get it right.

You don’t ever have to settle for less than the very best from life. Because you can envision what you desire and you can work diligently to make it so.

Some would assume that the necessity of effort is a burdensome curse. Yet in reality it is one of life’s greatest blessings.

For it is the necessity of effort that enables you to dream your most treasured dreams, and then to make them real. You have the power to do it, and right here, right now, is when you can.

— Ralph Marston

Think a positive thought

Think a positive thought, and you’ll take a positive action. Take a positive action, and you’ll get a valuable result

Thoughts can often seem easy, light, and inconsequential. After all, on its own a mere thought doesn’t have the power to do anything.

However, you most certainly have the power to do many things. And your thoughts are what determine and direct the actions you take.

If you continually focus your thoughts on the things you don’t want, those things will surely find their way into your life. By the same measure, focusing your thoughts on your most positive possibilities enables you to make those possibilities real.

When life brings you disappointment after disappointment, it’s easy to make all your thoughts negative ones. Yet it is just as easy, and far more empowering, to respond with positive thinking.

If you had the power to change your life for the better, would you use that power? You do indeed have that power, and it is in the thoughts you choose to think.

— Ralph Marston

For a reason

What happens, happens for a reason. Watch, listen, feel, experience, learn and grow.

What may seem to be a coincidence is actually a consequence. What may appear to be a random occurrence is actually a direct result of something.

Life’s events and situations are always telling you something of value. Pay attention and, firmly grounded in your purpose, hear what life has to say.

By understanding where consequences come from, you can learn to choose the ones you desire. By focusing carefully on life’s various causes and effects, you can create the specific outcomes you wish to experience.

When things are not going your way, it can be easy and tempting to blame it on random bad luck. Yet it is far more empowering to take full responsibility for your situation, because that puts you on a path to change it for the better.

For every result, there is a cause. Take positive, purposeful control of the causes, and get the results you truly desire.

— Ralph Marston

Go one better

Do circumstances demand that you get up an hour earlier? Then put yourself firmly in control, go one better, and get up two hours earlier.

As long as you’re making the effort, make it count. Rather than doing just the minimum required to merely get by, do the maximum of which you’re capable.

Don’t just break even by giving what you’re expected to give. Go one better, and exceed everyone’s expectations.

A little bit of extra effort will end the frustration of always playing catch-up. Instead of constantly being run over by the problems, you’ll be out in front, ready and waiting to transform them into opportunities.

Instead of resenting what you must do, rejoice at the opportunity to make a difference. Instead of casting yourself as a victim of low expectations, raise those expectations higher and higher through your commitment to excellence.

Life asks much of you, and with a little extra effort you can go one better. Go one better, and earn the ability to joyfully live life on your own best terms.

— Ralph Marston

Get busy living

Today is a new day. Fill it with new experience.

You have the extremely valuable opportunity today to grow. Take full advantage of that opportunity.

There are things you enjoy that you don’t yet know you enjoy. Explore the possibilities, and discover some of those things.

There is beauty that will thrill your soul that you have not yet encountered. Get going, get out there, get busy living, and find that new beauty.

If all you ever do is stay right where you are, you’ll never know how truly magnificent your life can be. Step enthusiastically out of your comfortable rut, and into the bright, beautiful world of new possibilities.

Just around that corner you’ve never before turned, there’s a whole new path to fulfillment. Get busy living, and fill your life with the richness you don’t even know you’re missing.

— Ralph Marston

Get through it

On the other side of the challenge is value. Get through it, and get the value.

Though the effort makes you weary, it also makes you strong. Get through it, and enjoy the full benefit of that strength.

You’ve already made it this far, and you’ve already established some good momentum. To get through it, just keep going.

Keep going, though the urge to quit may be strong. Keep going, get through it and get the rewards you’ve earned.

Get through it, not by fighting but by accepting and persisting in each moment. Get through it, not with resentment for what you must do but with gratitude for what you can accomplish.

You have what it takes, because what it takes is simply making one step, and then the next, and then the next. Step forward, get through it, and bring your own unique value more fully to life.

— Ralph Marston

The Daily Motivator - The Daily Motivator - Follow your why
Thursday, March 29, 2012
Follow your why

If you see it as something you merely should do, you’ll resent it. Yet when you know it is something you must do, you’ll find a way to get it done.

If you feel that the task has been imposed on you by some outside influence, you’ll find ways to avoid it. Yet when you understand how the task is connected to your true purpose, you’ll find a way to get it done as quickly and effectively as possible.

Knowing why is not merely an interesting bit of information. It is everything.

If you don’t know why, you’re wasting your precious time. When you are clear about why, when what you’re doing truly matters, you’re on the path to creating the best life you can imagine.

If you’re complaining and resisting, delaying and making excuses, you’re not following your why. You can be infinitely more enthusiastic and effective simply by connecting your actions to your purpose.

Choose to intentionally and persistently follow your why. And truly fulfill the unique, magnificent possibility that is your life.

— Ralph Marston

Build a life

It’s easy to do nothing, but easy doesn’t really get you much. It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and watch, but there is so very much more you can do.

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Get in the habit of seeking new and meaningful challenges.

Don’t just give lip service to the things that matter most in your life. Invest yourself fully in building and growing and supporting those things with your time, your effort, and your passion.

A life that is easy and predictable is a waste of your best possibilities. Get out there, jump in, get involved and make the commitment to your highest vision of what life can be.

Don’t merely care about what you care about. Do something about what you care about, in a way that is positive, substantive, and makes a lasting difference.

Move beyond observation, curiosity and empty wishes, and do what it takes to manifest your vision and your dreams into magnificent, rock-solid reality. Every moment is your opportunity to build a life that’s rich and full, so take a deep breath, aim for the stars, and make it happen.

— Ralph Marston

The Daily Motivator - The Daily Motivator - An active role
Saturday, April 7, 2012
An active role

Life is great. Live it as it comes.

Life is rich and fulfilling. In every moment, take an active role.

What you put off until later, becomes more difficult and less effective the longer you wait. Now is the time you have, so use it for all it’s worth.

Move beyond your need to make judgments about what has already happened. Peacefully and confidently let go of your fears and anxieties about what may or may not happen.

Fully appreciate all that’s going on in this wondrous world, but don’t just sit back and watch it happen. Jump in, get positively involved, and make life happen in the way you know is best.

Celebrate and participate in the joys along with the challenges, for it all comes together to make life great. Take an active role, and bring your very own greatness to life.

— Ralph Marston

Decide

Decide that this day will be productive and consequential, and it will be. Decide to rise above the petty distractions, and you’re already on your way.

Decide that there are valuable opportunities in the challenges, and you’ll find those opportunities. Decide to make a positive difference, and you’ll have what is necessary to do so.

There are many factors in life over which you have no direct control. And yet even with those things, you can decide how to handle them.

Decide to live and work and play from a perspective of love and gratitude. Decide to greet each day, each moment, and each new situation with a determination to make the world a better place.

Life is a continuous series of choices. Decide where you want those choices to lead, and put yourself on your own path to fulfillment.

When you know what you desire, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to bring it about. Decide to live the very best life you can imagine, and delight in making it happen.

— Ralph Marston

Get it finished

When you have to choose between getting it perfect and getting it finished, get it finished. Even when it’s inconvenient and uncomfortable, get it finished.

Are there other things you’d rather be doing? Go ahead, finish what you’ve started, and then you can more fully enjoy moving on to those other things.

Don’t waste your time wishing for it to be easier, or resenting that you must get it done. Stop fighting against your own effort, and put all your energy into getting the job finished.

Give your perspective a positive boost with some effective, productive effort. Follow through on your intentions and commitments, and get it done.

It was important enough for you to start, so go ahead and get it finished. Get it finished, and bring new value to your world.

Accomplishment feels so much better than idleness, wishful thinking or resentment. Make the effort, tackle the challenges, get it finished, and enjoy some good, solid, fulfilling accomplishment along the way.

— Ralph Marston

Now and later

You don’t have to sacrifice present joy and richness for future value, and you don’t have to compromise your future to enjoy right now. You can choose to live richly and joyfully in the present while also being positively responsible for your future.

Sure there are momentary pleasures that will have a negative impact on your future. Yet you can fully enjoy this moment without resorting to those empty, fleeting pleasures.

Yes, there are responsibilities you must tend to right now in order to create a more positive future. But there’s no need to feel burdened or oppressed by them.

In fact, one of the best ways to enjoy the present moment is by being productive and creative and focused on a meaningful positive purpose. Instead of filling your moments with shallow pleasures that will soon be gone, you can fill your life with deep, profound joy that will continue to grow stronger.

Being disciplined and responsible toward your own future is not really a sacrifice at all. When you continue to remind yourself of the value of what you’re doing, it is a constant source of satisfaction and abiding richness.

Make the choices that will enrich your future while also drinking in every bit of the richness of right now. Live with authentic positive presence and purpose, and you can have it all.

— Ralph Marston

Beyond the challenge

Before you focus on the obstacles and difficulties, think about the rewards you’ll bring into your life by getting past those difficulties. Before you consider all the effort that’s involved, consider what you have the opportunity to achieve with that effort.

Certainly there are challenges facing you. To get yourself successfully through them, make sure you have a strong, meaningful, compelling reason.

Imagine, with all the richness you can give it, how good life will be on the other side of the challenge. Let your imagination give good, solid purpose to the strength that will carry you beyond the challenge.

When your authentic purpose is aligned with your efforts, you will absolutely find a way to be highly effective in those efforts. You’ll have the strength and ability to innovate, adjust, improve and persist for as long as necessary to get the job done.

Before the journey even begins, use your imagination to immerse your mind and spirit in the rewards waiting at the end of that journey. The more vibrantly you visualize and relate to the goal, the more energy you’ll have to get there.

Though it may be extremely challenging, there is a path from here to there. Connect solidly with your purpose for getting there, and you will soon have worked yourself successfully beyond the challenge.

— Ralph Marston
